The second annual conference of judges of the Amhara Region courts continued today with various programs under the theme “Enhancing Access and excellence in judicial service.”
Alongside the regular conference programs, judges and other participants took part in a blood donation campaign, demonstrating their social responsibility and commitment to saving human lives.
The President of the Amhara Region Supreme Court, Hon. Ato Alemante Agidew, personally donated blood and encouraged other conference participants to take part in the blood donation campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, President Alemante said that just as judges were engaged in deliberations during the conference on ways to improve the region’s justice system, they should also demonstrate their commitment to saving lives by participating in blood donation.
He noted that citizens in need of blood during childbirth, medical treatment, and other emergency health situations may lose their lives due to shortages of blood. He emphasized that blood donation is one of the greatest humanitarian acts that can contribute to saving human lives.
“There is nothing more important than saving a human life,” President Alemante said, stressing that blood donation should become an established culture within society.
The President also noted that the blood donation campaign had been organized in consultation with the blood bank and said that judges were ready to take part in this important humanitarian activity.
President Alemante called on judges and other conference participants to join the blood donation campaign. He further said that institutions organizing large conferences could help save many lives by incorporating blood donation into their conference programs as part of their social responsibility initiatives.
A similar blood donation campaign was also conducted during last year’s judges’ conference. The initiative is reportedly recognized as one of the largest blood donation drives conducted in connection with a single conference.
