The Amhara Region Supreme Court and Action for Development and Environmental Protection Organization (ASDEPO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at working jointly to enhance the effectiveness of the judiciary and the justice system.
The agreement was signed by H.E. Ato Alemante Agidew, President of the Amhara Region Supreme Court, and Ato Mihretab Belay, Director General of ASDEPO.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate in several key areas, including human resource capacity building within the courts; protection of vulnerable groups, particularly the protection of children’s rights; protection and support for communities vulnerable to gender-based violence; sustainable peace building; and environmental protection.
During the signing ceremony, H.E. President Alemante Agidew briefed ASDEPO on the work undertaken by courts across the region and outlined the courts’ key areas of focus moving forward.
For his part, ASDEPO Director General Ato Mihretab Belay commended the achievements made by the Court within a relatively short period. He also expressed his organization’s commitment to supporting the Court in areas related to ASDEPO’s areas of engagement.
