The Amhara Regional Supreme Court has finalized preparations to construct an integrated judicial complex that will strengthen public trust and respect for the rule of law in the region. The project takes into account the judicial and justice sector reforms currently being implemented at both national and regional levels.

The complex will include the headquarters of the Amhara Regional Supreme Court, an International Arbitration and Mediation Excellence Center, and a Rule of Law and Peace Center. These centers will facilitate the resolution of disputes arising from cross-border and domestic trade and investment activities, while also providing a range of related services.

The complex is expected to serve as a model for judicial institutions in the region, across the country, and throughout Africa in terms of service delivery, construction quality, and judicial service infrastructure.

The Supreme Court awarded the consultancy role to the Ethiopian Engineering Corporation, considering the corporation’s successful completion of the renovation and expansion of the Supreme Court within a short timeframe and with high quality, as well as its record of delivering other regional and national projects on time and to a high standard.

The President of the Amhara Regional Supreme Court, Honorable Ato Alemante Agidew, expressed his satisfaction with awarding the consultancy role to the corporation and stated that the Court has full confidence in the corporation’s ability to complete the project with quality and within the established timeline.

Anwar Kassahun, Deputy CEO of the Ethiopian Engineering Corporation, stated that the corporation has developed extensive experience over the past 60 years in consultancy, design, construction, and contract management in several countries, including Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Nigeria. He emphasized that the responsibility entrusted to the corporation by the Supreme Court is significant and affirmed their commitment to ensuring the project is completed with high quality and within the agreed timeframe.

The Integrated Judicial Complex will be constructed on a 15-hectare site. Including overall greenery and landscaping works, the total project area will cover 20 hectares. The construction is expected to be completed within three years.
