The President of the Amhara Regional State, H.E. Arega Kebede, has officially inaugurated and opened the Justice Museum of the Amhara Region Supreme Court.
The Amhara Region Supreme Court, which is currently undertaking comprehensive reform, is working to build a modern, sustainable judicial and justice system.
In addition to building modern judicial institutions and investing in human-resource development, the Supreme Court has established the Justice Museum to document and preserve significant historical events and milestones in the history of the judicial and justice sectors.
The construction of the museum, as well as the collection and organization of materials for its exhibits, took one year. The museum has now been fully organized and completed and is officially open to the public.
The museum was formally inaugurated and opened by H.E. Arega Kebede, President of the Amhara Regional State, in the presence of senior federal and regional government officials and high-ranking leaders of justice institutions.
Speaking at the inauguration, H.E. President Arega Kebede remarks the museum provides an opportunity to exhibite the country's judicial and justice history in one place. He noted that the museum will make a significant contribution to a society that has a deep appreciation for law and justice, as reflected in the well-known Amharic saying, “በፍርድ ከሄደች በቅሎየ፣ ያለፍርድ የሄደች ጭብጦየ”(I mourn the loss of my sparrow that went with out justice more than my mule that went with out fair trail).
H.E. President Arega further stated that the museum will serve as an important educational resource for understanding the administration of criminal justice. He also noted that it will become a valuable center supporting academic study and research.
Describing the establishment of the museum in this manner as an expression of the identity of the community, President Arega Kebede expressed his appreciation to the leadership of the Amhara Region Supreme Court for organizing and establishing the museum.
