The Amhara Region Supreme Court has established the Justice Museum with the aim of preserving the history of judicial and justice institutions and making it accessible to future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum is intended to serve as a source of knowledge for judges, prosecutors, police officers, lawyers and law students engaged in the justice sector, while also helping the wider public understand the role of judicial and justice institutions in nation-building and strengthening public trust in the justice system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum is also designed to provide researchers with valuable reference materials and help successive generations understand where the justice system began, the historical developments it has undergone, and where it stands today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum houses a range of historical materials related to the development of the judicial and justice system, including early laws establishing judicial and justice institutions, judicial decisions, various documents and information associated with these institutions, photographs and judicial attire. It also features a moot court room where law students can conduct mock trials, along with other historical artifacts related to the justice and judicial system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the museum, Dr. Mengesha Ayene, President of Bahir Dar University, described the Justice Museum established by the Supreme Court as a \u201cliving library.\u201d He noted that the establishment of the museum represents a significant contribution to Bahir Dar University, which works in partnership and collaboration with the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Mengesha said the museum would provide the university\u2019s students and researchers with an opportunity to access, in one location, the long historical process through which the country\u2019s judicial and justice system has evolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further remarked that establishing such an institution was something that universities should have undertaken, emphasizing the importance of visionary leadership in building strong institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe right leaders build institutions,\u201d Dr. Mengesha said, expressing his appreciation to the leaders of the Supreme Court for undertaking the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also emphasized that the museum would make a significant contribution to teaching, learning and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Dr. Mengesha, the establishment and commencement of operations of the Justice Museum will serve as a major source of information and reference material for higher education institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Justice Museum is therefore expected to serve not only as a repository for the history of the judicial and justice institutions of the Amhara Region, but also as an educational and research resource that connects the past development of the justice system with its present and future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
