It is known that the Amhara Region Supreme Court is in the process of launching customary courts in all areas of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Supreme Court, which recognized 15 traditional dispute resolution systems identified in a study as customary courts of the region, has appointed elders and clerks of traditional courts in various areas of the region, and is currently providing the necessary capacity building training to the selected elders and clerks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Supreme Court, which began its work by training traditional court elders in Bahir Dar and its surroundings, Dessie and Central Gondar, and officially inaugurating model traditional courts there, today officially inaugurated the Leche Kebele Model Traditional Court, which is part of the launch of traditional courts in North Shewa Zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The model customary courts were inaugurated by the Honorable Ato Alemante Agidew, President of the Supreme Court of the Amhara Region, along with the state minister for Ministry of Justice, Ermias Yemanebirhan (Dr.) and other senior federal and regional officials. During the inauguration, the Honorable President stated that traditional court judges should follow the principles set out in the Customary Courts Proclamation No. 298\/2025, especially by respecting human rights, protecting the rights of children and women, and working freely in accordance with traditional laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He expressed his gratitude to all those who provided support for the construction of the center and its launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
