The Amhara Regional Supreme Court held a discussion with judges and other stakeholders on the pilot implementation of Court anxed mediation and its progress.
In his opening speech, the President of the Amhara Regional Supreme Court, Honorable Ato Alemant Agidew, stated that the Court is utilizing all available options to improve service delivery and provide efficient judicial services to court users.
He noted that, in addition to regular court services, the Court is implementing alternative judicial mechanisms that are more convenient for users, including traditional courts and other dispute resolution methods. Among these initiatives, he highlighted the Court anxed mediation, which has been implemented on a trial basis in regional courts since 2024.
The President emphasized that the purpose of the discussion was to build on the positive outcomes observed so far, identify challenges encountered during implementation, propose solutions, and fully realize the potential of the Court anxed mediation system.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Special Advisor to the President of the Amhara Supreme Court, Worku Yaze (Ass.Prof), presented a discussion paper titled \u201cTrial Implementation of Court anxed mediation in the Amhara Region: Strengths and Limitations.\u201d
In his presentation, he addressed the nature, importance, and significance of Court anxed mediation, as well as the opportunities and challenges identified since its pilot introduction in 2024 across various courts in the region. He also provided recommendations for further improvement.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants in the discussion shared their views and insights based on the presentation. They expressed appreciation for the Supreme Court\u2019s efforts to promote alternative dispute resolution mechanisms alongside regular court services, establish a clear legal and procedural framework, and engage relevant stakeholders in dialogue. They also offered suggestions to strengthen the implementation process.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n
